SUMMARY:
Assistant Mechanic for mower equipment and machinery to ensure all equipment operates at peak condition. To provide support and directly assist the Mechanic with various automotive repairs and service on the company fleet of vehicles and various automotive machinery.
POSITION INFO:
- Perform repairs to maintenance equipment e.g. Mowers, Compressors, Generators, etc according to mechanical requirements to restore the working condition of the equipment
- Perform any other reasonable task as determined by the Tracks Manager from time to time
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards within the workshop and ensure record keeping of all machinery,
- Servicing All mowing machinery.
- Ensuring that the spares required are ordered and always available when needed.
- Repairing any faulty mowing machinery
- Ensuring that regular maintenance is done on all machinery.
- Assisting the mechanic with repair and maintenance of plant equipment and agricultural equipment from time to time.
- Assisting the mechanic in the upkeep of the workshop.
- Assisting with the administering of fuel, oil, and other duties at the workshop.
- Any other duties requested by management
Quailification & Work Experience:
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
- Post matric qualification in mechanical engineering (advantageous)
- 2-3 years of working with vehicles and machinery in a mechanical workshop environment
- Trade-test (advantageous)
Knowledge, Skills and Behavioural Attributes:
- Knowledge and understanding of Horse Racing industry standards, procedures and processes
- Good mechanical knowledge of various machinery
- Good knowledge of mechanical regulations and industry standards.
- Moderate knowledge of Health and Safety standards
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to be precise, systematic and rule-oriented in working with relevant details.
- Strong Internal Customer focus
- Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to handle disappointments/failure or stress
