Workshop and Production Senior Supervisor / Manager - Fluid Mechanics - Engineering

SUMMARY:
A well-known Engineering company requires the above to manage and improve productivity levels within the Workshop and Production Departments. Building relationships with the team to drive employee performance and accountability within the workshop to achieve assembly targets and repairs whilst promoting and encouraging a culture of teamwork employing best practices that benefit all employees.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role: 

• The successful candidate must have a Tertiary Qualification in either Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related or be a qualified Artisan.
• Previous experience having worked within a Supervisory or Junior Workshop or Production Management role working within the pumps and related industry or someone who has worked within the municipality or Fluid Dynamics markets is essential.  
• Previous Supervisory Management experience is essential managing a team of people in a production, factory or workshop environment is essential. 
• The successful candidate must have strong people management skills. 
• The successful candidate must be familiar with the Metal Engineering Bargaining Council (MEIBC).
• The successful candidate must have strong production experience and knowledge (World Class Manufacturing - Lean, TPM, 5S) is essential. 
• The successful candidate must have a process-driven attitude and able to prioritise tasks.
• The successful candidate must be familiar with continuous improvement principles and project experience.
• Previous experience having worked on an ERP system is essential. 
• Project Management skills is pref. 

 The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

• Building relationships with the team to drive employee performance and accountability within the workshop to achieve assembly targets and repairs. 
• Promoting and encouraging a culture of teamwork employing best practices that benefit all employees. 
• Continuously coaching and developing the skills and knowledge of all employees and the company’s core values. 
• Promoting continuous improvement principles and analytical problem-solving techniques. 
• Assisting with fault identification and fixing of root cause as well as ensuring the accurate completion of production logs and job cards.
• Observing compliance of repairs and pump assembly to quality standards which includes using NCR process to document and track resolutions / continuous improvement.
• Maintaining and improving product income levels through waste reduction, cost reduction, and cost improvement plans.
• Managing labor, maintenance and repair costs while maintaining product quality.
• Maintaining material workflow in the ERP system with production orders, stock transfers, purchase orders, work orders and recon orders. 
• Building relationships with key clients and supporting representatives in building relations with clients.
• Working collaboratively with the sales and support teams to fosters a culture of continuous process improvement and teamwork.
• Evaluating performance against plans and deciding on corrective action to enhance the unit’s performance in support of sales objectives, including driving continuous improvement of existing people, process, technologies and systems.
• Partnering with ESHA to ensure the correct standards in accordance with iso quality system are maintained.
• Ensuring all operations comply with OSHAC standards including alignment to the company’s health & safety and environment policy.
• Working with ESH to deliver a “zero” safety environment, ensuring that every effort is made to minimize accidents/near misses. 
• Performing regular iso aligned risk analysis to capital, process and human resources as well as communicating findings and playing integral role in mitigating / managing risks and potential impact.
