SUMMARY:
Our client based in Elandsfontein is looking for a Workshop Manager to manage a team of 20 direct reports and up to 10 independent contractors of various manning levels
POSITION INFO:
Qualifications
· Recognized Artisan Trade in fitting
· 5-10 years of progressive experience in workshop management.
· Sound knowledge of conventional fitting practices in water and boiler feed application.
· Min 2 years’ experience in Microsoft platforms, MS word, Excel, SAP
· Sound knowledge of the OHS, act required
· General computer & software skills
Responsibilities
· Direct responsibility for the Health, Safety and Environment of all employees who either, directly work in your area of control, or who visit the operational areas you are responsible for either internal or external visitors. Including full legal & company compliance in areas under your responsibility.
· Develop a positive safety culture through the Company Behavioral Safety Program
· Plan and manage workshop activities in accordance with agreed budgets and time scales
· Direct and motivate the workforce in line with the objects of the PSC management
· Maintain the workshop maintenance planning control , ensure the smooth operation of all machine tools.
· Attend to all breakdowns and repairs as requested through workshop repair
· Ensure Maintain and control the maintenance records and store area through Foreman
· Ensure that the methods used in repairs are both safe and ergonomically well designed.
· Control the workshop personal, attendance, sick and annual leave
· Control weekly safety talks, and tools box talks are held.
· Investigate route cause analysis for workshop failure as required
· Control the administration and approve invoices in line with DOA.
· Take a participating role in the development and improvement of the workshop layout, maintenance planning
· Compile CAPEX applications for budget purposes as required
· Take lead role in the safety, health and environmental standards within the factory and site confines
· Mentoring, directing, motivating, supervising and monitoring the performance of all members of the allocated team.
· Responsibility for operational staff’s appraisals in accordance with local policy.
· Responsibility for staff development and training ensuring this is aligned to the business requirements.
· Support and drive the continuous improvement process for operational issues.
· Management of Operational non-conformances through respective teams - reporting, trend analysis and RCA for preventative and corrective action.
· Participation in the development & implementation of best practice across the EMEA region.
· Develop Lean principles within all areas of your department.
