SUMMARY:
My client has a vacancy for a welder based at their container depot in Port Elizabeth.
Purpose:
Position undertakes all fabricatio, straightening & welding jobs related to container/equipment/construction repairs to the standards and specifications.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
➢ Selects appropriate equipment and materials, and plans layout, assembly and welding.
➢ Lays out positions, aligns and fits components together.
➢ Bolts, clamps, and tacks parts securely in position for welding.
➢ Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
➢ Assembles part by bolting and riveting.
➢ Repairs parts by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling.
➢ Maintains a neat, tidy and safe workstation.
➢ Follows all health and safety rules and regulations for work area.
➢ Informs supervisor of any workmanship issues, requests checking of work when appropriate, and seeks approval of completed work.
➢ Provides training and instruction to the less experienced workers
➢ Provides complete and accurate reports as needed.
➢ Ensure quality is done as per client criteria.
➢ Time sheets to be handed in daily.
➢ Job cards to be submitted daily.
Qualifications:
➢ National Senior Certificate / Matric
➢ Completion of vocational training and/or apprenticeship in welding and fabrication.
➢ Experience: Requires at least three (3) years of specific work experience specifically in welding & fabrication
➢ Any experience in the repair of refrigerated containers, including welding/fabrication, at a container repair Centre or workshop in a port would be preferable
➢ Requires thorough understanding of welding and fabrication techniques
