SUMMARY:
Providing service and customer support during site visits or dispatches. Managing all on site installations, repairs, maintenance, and water analyses tasks. Diagnosing errors or technical problems, performing the requisite troubleshooting, and determining proper effective solutions

POSITION INFO:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and assume responsibilities for proper operation of water treatment chemicals and associated equipment in use at customer sites.
Ensure adequate chemical stock levels at customer sites – inventory management is crucial and proper stock levels need to be maintained at all sites.
Carry out local services and repairs on equipment at all Intechem’s WT customers.
Installation of water treatment plants at various customers
Responsible for commissioning activities (hot and cold) at installed plants
Ensure that serviced and installed/commissioned plant and equipment confirms to specifications before being handed over.
Ensure that the plant is handed over in good working order to the client.
Promote Intechem’s Water Treatment solutions to all customers.
Always maintain a neat and sober manner.
Maintain the condition of your motor vehicle and tools in an acceptable manner.
Manage expenses within set budgets.
Support and assist with workshop and warehouse activities.
Assist with factory and performance testing.

AUTHORITY

Discuss quotations and accept orders from customers.
Control all vehicle stock items issued to him.
Sign delivery notes on behalf of company
Installation and commissioning authority during site works
Signing of commissioning, beneficial occupation and handover certificates on behalf of company

DUTIES

Perform plant equipment and chemicals system checks including completion of all relevant water analyses documenting results and recommendations on a report to be submitted and discussed with customer.
Investigate plant operation problems- submit reports noting any modifications to be supplied.

Service and repair equipment of clients as instructed in each job sheet issued.
Record the service or repair of all work carried out on the Service Report sheet.
Fill in purchase requests for bought out items (in some cases collection will be necessary)
Ensure that the client signs the report sheet acknowledging that he/she is satisfied with the service carried out.
Complete vehicle log sheets weekly
Stock: Make out stock transfer documents to replace stock items used
Supervise/assist installations of contract equipment.
Maintain site logbook, change order sheet, work instruction books regularly.
Ensure installation/commissioning program and procedures are adhered to.
Ensure that all plants installed by Intechem are installed correctly, working correctly, and are operating according to the client’s specifications.
Assist other departments in the promotion of other services and products.
Maintain safety precautions and sound housekeeping principals and due care of all equipment/assets under your control/use.

REQUIREMENT:

Matric/Grade 12; Chemical Engineering Diploma
The candidate must have water treatment technical experience – this is a non-negotiable since training the person would take years, and without proper experience he / she will be useless to us at sites.
The candidate must specifically have hands-on experience operating and trouble-shooting Iron-Removal plants, Industrial Filtration (AFM & GAC) and Reverse Osmosis plants. Also in in-depth knowledge of control instrumentation (pH and Conductivity) as well as chemical dosing systems (panels, pumps and pipework) is an absolute must-have.
The person must be physically fit / capable and also not be afraid of hard work – e.g. some of the sites are factories which are quite large and person will be required to carry polycans of chemical (which can weigh as much as 37kg) hundreds of metres as well as up and down multiple flights of stairs.
