Warehouse Mgmt Systems Engineer (JHB)

SUMMARY:
A major retailer with a large DC seeks an Industrial Systems Engineer to ensure all WMS and ERP systems are integrated, managed, and improved upon.

POSITION INFO:

Duties:

• Troubleshooting of integration issues with ERP & WMS system
• Development of reporting and dashboards from WMS reporting database for OPS management teams
• Analysing system logs, identifying and reporting of potential issues with all operational systems.
• Performing routine audits of systems and operational processes
• Responsible to align full operational flow across all departments with system processes
• Ensure Quality Assurance (QA) on testing and validation
• Responsible for all technical WMS understanding & internal DC processes
• Responsible for maintenance of technical training schedules in support of operational SOP’s
• Assisting in arranging data in an understandable manner to assist operations with dashboards
• Assist operations with good system practice & change management.
• Evaluate core processes within the DC operation and integrate them in a unique and creative way to solve business problems
• Design and conduct time and motion studies to develop standard work routines; best practises and realistic/measurable productivity expectations.
• Advise on improvements of Key Performance Indicators that impacts operations and processes with different stakeholders
• Conduct RCA to identify uncommon and everyday issues within DC operations
• Perform data analysis to identify opportunities and risks in storage optimisation; material handling and process conformance
• Capture, design and make recommendations to process flow through risk, security and productivity gap analysis
• Develop and maintain work standards and characteristics that promote efficient staff and facility utilization
• Support continuous improvement projects and initiatives by actively adhering to lean principles, design of experiments
• Development and construction of tools to aid operations in their day to day activities
• Support operational departments in ad-hoc expertise requirements
• Project manage assigned improvement and initiatives from design & order placement to implementation & execution

Requirements:

• BEng Industrial Engineering, BCom Logistics or similar degree preferred Full understanding of a WMS or WCS, the application, troubleshoot, problems
• Previous experience with WMS systems such as Logfire, Manhattan, Red Prairie, SAP, Highjump or similar -
• High level of proficiency with MS Office packages
• Previous experience in mini project management
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience within DC operations

• Experience in FMCG and Retail industry beneficial
  • Process fault finding and resolution
  • Critical and Systems thinking.
• Knowledge of simulations and models advantageous
• Solutions-oriented, can-do attitude; self-motivated
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
• Comfortable with learning and adapting to new systems
