JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic
  • 3-5 Years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills
 
Manage and control Cost
Ensure maintenance expenditure is maintained within budgetary limits where supplied by Contract Manager.
Manage the vehicle maintenance costs to acceptable levels
Take timeous and appropriate corrective action with regard to excessive VM costs
Ensure that the Workshop Manager and Technical Manager are kept informed regarding major expenditure
 
Monitor workshop operations and take corrective actions where required
Brief the Contract Manager on a daily basis of the tasks for the day and what was completed the previous day.
Ensure that health and safety standards are adhered to
Ensure the day to day efficient running of the workshop
Oversee and implement the fleet maintenance programme to a safe and acceptable standard
Ensure that vehicles are inspected after servicing and repairs
Ensure that Quality standards are maintained
Ensure that vehicles are test driven after a major service or a repair
Ensure weekly service schedules are compiled for all equipment
Plan and communicate preventive maintenance schedules to reduce impact on operations.
 Diagnose equipment problems and conditions, and conduct mechanical repairs, rebuilds and replacements as a hands-on mechanic.
At the end of each shift ensure that all tools and spares are accounted for.
 
Implement and Control all SHEQ requirements
Conduct Housekeeping audits regularly and ensure corrective action is taken if required,
Conduct safety audits regularly on all facets and corrective action is taken if required.
Ensure reporting on Safety is done accurately and timeously according to Company Procedure & Standard.
Comply with all legal requirements
 
Monitor and control stock orders
Manage stock levels and the purchase of replacement parts and equipment
Conduct Stock checks randomly
Sigh off Stock orders and ensure the sourcing spares in accordance with price, quality and availability
Maintain close contact with suppliers to ensure quality and service levels are maintained
 
Administration & record keeping
Ensure that all workshop administration documents are checked for accuracy and correct completion
Submit all Monthly reports timeously, according to the prescribed format
Keep Vehicle history files updated and complete
