JOB DESCRIPTION:

My client in a medical supply is looking to fill the position for a WAREHOUSE MANAGER:The position is aPATTERSON JOB GRADE ( D2)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Matric/Grade 12

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Warehouse Management 

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

5 years’ experience in Warehouse Management or equivalent

Strong decision making and problem solving skills

Experience in medical supplies industry (Advantageous)

 

JOB PURPOSE:

To direct receiving, warehousing and distribution operations.  Oversee the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing and dispatch of a wide variety of products. Ensure all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly

 Knowledge:Warehouse Management principles and practices,Business and management principles and practices,  Financial principles and acumen, Human resource principles and practices
 Warehouse Management:
  • Create and implement best practices in terms of warehouse policies , processes and procedures to improve operational performance
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of warehouse space layout and future capacity requirements.
  • Coordinates with procurement department with regards to incoming deliveries of raw materials.
  • Coordinates with production and logistics departments with regards to the transfer of finished goods.
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
  • Ensure inventories are accurate and control inventory levels by ensuring physical counts are conducted and reconciled with automated system.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics on a  weekly and monthly basis
  • Review ways to reduce waste.
Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided
 Stock Management: 
  • Responsible for all stock management activities and taking accountability with regard to stock losses
  • Manage, oversee and participate in storeroom operations.
  • Accurate receiving of raw materials, stock deliveries which should be reconciled to the original Purchase Order (PO) and Delivery Notes (DN) and /or invoice received.
  • Ensure that stock is properly secured by adhering to safety and security controls using the FIFO principle
  • Accurate issuing of stock to the various departments.
  • Ensure that all stock is palletised and tracked per bin location.
  • Expediting raw material timeously as to prevent production work stoppage.
  • Ascertain any foreseeable problems or possible delays with regards to the supplying of stock from the warehouse and communicate to production timeously.
  • Review paperwork from deliveries to determine if additional work requirement will be needed.
    • Plan, communicate, analyse variance and report on monthly stocktakes
    • Reconcile between Evolution, Granite and physical stock on hand.
    Initiate all request for replenishment of stock

 Relationship Management: 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers as and when is required in a timely way and handle all concerns
  • Liaise with others in the business to monitor requirements to ensure quality of service.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects.

Communicate with warehouse team on a regular basis to make to ensure that they are aware of warehouse priorities

 

Leadership/Human Resource Management: 

  • Establish goals and objectives for self and team and implement accordingly to help support / improve job performance (experience, ability, competence).
  • Ensure all recruitment and employment is carried out in accordance with company procedures
  • Delegate tasks and accountabilities
  • Ensure customer deliverables are met fully
  • Ensure that any IT systems are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage staff, monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Conduct and record annual performance appraisals
  • Ensure that appropriate skill levels are developed in staff to allow good business practice.
  • Ensure that staff comply with health, safety and environmental regulations and work safely.

Address any staff discipline or grievance issue, maintaining appropriate records in accordance with company  policies and procedures

 

Quality Management: 

  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
  • Create policies and procedures for warehouse activities
  • Ensure all systems used at warehouse meet the standard for accreditation in line with the quality systems.
  • Drive a zero tolerance on deviation of quality standards.
  • Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure any hazardous materials are stored in accordance with the requirements
    • Plan, communicate, analyse variance and report on monthly stocktakes
