POSITION INFO:
We are urgently looking for a Veterinarian for our client based in the West Rand. New Graduates are welcome to apply.

Job Responsibilities:

• Examine animals to diagnose their health problems.  This is to be performed thoroughly as per the guidelines of the VDA.
• Diagnose and treat animals in accordance with minimum standards of the SAVA and SAVC.
• Treat and dress wounds.
• Perform surgery on animals to the level required by the practice.
• Test for and vaccinate against diseases.
• Operate medical equipment such as x-ray machines.
• Set up drips etc.
• Advise animal owners about general care, behavior, training, and medical conditions.
• Prescribe medication in accordance with the M.C.C. and S.A.V.C. rules.
• Euthanize animals.
• Carry out house calls should the need arise.
• Follow all hospital and practice procedures and protocols.
• Carry out all duties in a professional and courteous manner and remain respectful and polite under all circumstances.
• Participate in performance appraisal reviews as requested.
• Maintain accurate records and pricing.
• Maintain a groomed and neat professional appearance while at work.
• All animals must be treated with kindness and respect and pain-free at all times.
• Remain productive during slow times by seeking additional duties, ready for C.P.D., etc.
• Attend C.P.D. opportunities, branch activities, etc.  Ensure that C.P.D. requirements, as set out by the South African Veterinary Council, are adequately met.
• Follow established security protocol and ensure the safety and security of practice staff and the facility.
• Maintain a pleasant and cooperative attitude towards co-workers.  Be willing to help any staff member with a task if requested.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding clients, patients, medical and financial records, and hospital procedures, policies, and protocols.
• Charge work accurately and fairly do not allocate discounts unless authorised by partners.
• Take on extra duties or change hours when other vets are away or when requested to do so in the daily running of the practice.
