Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene Emergency Specialist

SUMMARY:
The role is permanent but based in Phalaborwa Limpopo Province

POSITION INFO:

Purpose:

The position is responsible for all activities associated with Ventilation, Occupational hygiene and Emergency preparedness in both surface and underground mining environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• National Diploma in Occupational Hygiene
• Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (MEC)
• Experience in Emergency preparedness and prevention
• Computer literate; previous Pivot Management Program experience will be an advantage
• RPO certificate will be an advantage
• 3 Years’ experience in underground mining and or similar position

Key responsibilities will include:

• Planning, implementing, maintaining and improving systems as contemplated in all the appropriate legislative requirements pertaining the above.
• Assisting with the minimisation of existing and potential health risks. 
• Liaising with appropriate authorities and represents Palabora Copper on internal committees dealing with health and safety related issues. 
• Providing technical guidance to in solving radiation problems.
• Ensuring compliance to Palabora SHEQ Management System and practices.
• Ensuring full compliance with the standards, procedures and Codes of Practices applied across the site. Implementing and maintaining all legal monitoring requirements stipulated in the MHS act and regulations.
• Co-ordinating the duties of the sub ordinates.
• Identifying on an ongoing basis in conjunction with the VOHE Superintendent, all environmental risks (underground and surface) as defined in the MHSA.
• Advising the Manager Environment & SHEQ MS and the appointed Medical Practitioner on radiation exposure conditions.
