Unit Manger - Medical - Cape Town

To lead a quality and safe patient care experience that meets the set clinical standards through the optimal management of human and organizational resources within a structured unit.

Responsibilities: (but not limited to)

• Ensure safe patient care by meeting set clinical quality standards according to company policies and procedures

   

• Manage and mitigate clinical risks in the unit

   

• Lead and manage the staff in the unit

   

• Manage the unit's operational and capital expenses according to financial and budget guidelines and ensure optimal utilization of resources

   

• Manage and actively contribute to a positive patient experience in the hospital

   

• Support the achievement of interdepartmental outcomes

   

• Manage key stakeholder relations

Requirements:

• Registered with SANC as Registered/Professional Nurse
• Post Grad Diploma in Critical Care Nursing: Medical and Surgical advantageous
• Post Grad Diploma in Nursing Management/Education essential
• 5+ years' experience nursing within the Medical unit
• 2-3+ years' experience leadership experience within the hospital essential
• Experience with Infection Prevention and Control; Clinical Facilitation will be advantageous
• Auditing and accreditation processes
• Clinical risk management
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Financial management
• Human resource processes including employee relations
• Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
• Management of staff productivity
• Nursing functional knowledge
• Patient complaint management
• Relevant nursing legislation
