SUMMARY:
Underground Boilermaker (Chrome Mining) – 12 Month Contract
We are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients in the mining industry for an experienced Underground Boilermaker to join their operations based in Mooinooi, North West. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, fabrication, installation, and repair work on underground mining equipment and infrastructure within a chrome mining environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive underground mining experience, strong fault-finding abilities, and a sound understanding of mining safety standards and procedures.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Boilermaker within the mining industry.
- Minimum 3 years’ underground mining experience.
- Experience working on underground mining equipment and infrastructure.
- Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness for underground work.
- Knowledge of MHSA (Mine Health and Safety Act).
- Valid driver’s license advantageous.
- Ability to work shifts and overtime when required.
- Strong welding, fabrication, and structural repair experience.
- Experience with conveyors, pipes, chutes, pumps, and underground steel structures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Conduct maintenance and repair work on underground mining equipment and related infrastructure.
- Perform fabrication, welding, and installation of steel structures and mining components.
- Inspect equipment and identify defects, wear, and mechanical failures.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
- Ensure all work is completed according to safety standards and operational procedures.
- Repair and maintain underground conveyors, ore passes, chutes, pipes, and ventilation structures.
- Assist with shutdown maintenance and project work underground.
- Complete daily inspection reports and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to minimise downtime.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within the workshop and underground areas.
- Participate in risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and used correctly.
