SUMMARY:
Our consulting division is currently on the hunt for talented UI/UX designers

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An exciting opportunity exists within our Dotcom Consulting division.  We are looking for an experienced UI/UX designer to join our team of talentend Designers.  This will be a hybrid role, so you will be required to travel either to the Dotcom offices or to the allocated client's site at least twice a week. Main duties include: 

  • Developing an effective digital strategy by communicating, organising, eliminating obstacles, maintaining a realistic view of complex digital initiatives, and managing the entire process.
  • UX Specialist – Critical role, upon joining must learn and understand all the systems.
  • User Research
  • Usability Testing (A/B Testing, Guerilla Testing)
  • Ability to understand business requirements and technical requirements
  • Ability to work with Business Analysts and Developers to design functional solutions
  • Ability to design user journeys and system flows
  • Ability to design wireframes based on technology best practices (such designing according to Android standards) 

Requirements

  1. Matric Certificate.
  2. Relevant Working Experience.
  3. Relevant Short Courses.
  4. BA Interaction Design or equivalent design degree
  5. Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Be a great team player, experienced in working with agile teams. Ability to collaborate closely with developers, copywriters and UX designers.
  2. Create, improve and use wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, and effectively communicate your interaction ideas using any of these methods.
  3. Present and defend your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.)
  4. User stories and requirements
  5. Conduct testing of completed applications, websites and software to assess user experience.
  6. Use coding to develop the aesthetics implemented within a website or product, from the layout menus and drop-down options to colors and fonts.
  7. Develop overall concepts for improving the user experience within a business webpage or product, ensuring all interactions are intuitive and convenient for customers.
  8. Collaborate with back-end web developers and programmers to improve usability.
  9. Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industry’s standards.
  10. Produce front-end code and visual comps to create a polished and highly functional user interface with a focus on usability and simplicity of design.

Hard Skills

  • Expertise in standard UI software such as Figma, InVision, Adobe XD, Sketch, Photoshop and Illustrator and the like is a must.
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.
  • Detailed experience with coding and the ability to troubleshoot and analyze websites using HTML, CSS and comparable front-end languages (e.g. Angular, ReactJS, VueJS etc.)
  • Ability to implement designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Visual design and UX process and strategy
  • Journey mapping
  • Creative ideas with advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize code for the best possible outcome.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate development processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
  • Use analytics to test client enjoyment.
  • In-depth understanding of browser rendering engines.
  • Focusing on Micro-interactions.
  • UI developers are thoroughly versed in web development languages, modern application programming languages, content management systems, and search engine optimization. As technology changes, they need to keep up with the latest developments.

Soft Skills

  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model, to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.
  • Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design and development.
  • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Be passionate about all thing’s UI and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
