Transport Controller

SUMMARY:
Cost effective planning of all vehicles and drivers taking into account the overall maximum utilization of the fleet and the needs of clients to deliver loads on time, in full and according to client total satisfaction, without incurring any costs / losses to the Company.

POSITION INFO:

General Responsibilities

• Ensuring vehicles are in roadworthy and comply with SA legislation
• Maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers
• Proper Maintenance of entire fleet as prescribed by the manufacturer (according to the service schedule)
• Complete and monitor diesel reports daily and report on any irregularities and where needed take corrective actions
• High risk routes and delivery points identified and sent to relevant department
• To work within a fast pace warehouse outbound environment and completing daily tasks in time
• Follow standard operating procedures and safe working practices
• To ensure that all POD documentation are accounted for and completed as per business requirements
• Ensure proper timekeeping of all operational staff is done daily
• All operational incidents/accidents to be investigated and as well as proper route course corrective actions implemented
• Completing Daily, Weekly and monthly operational reports
• Daily operational data management as well as reporting thereof
• Daily view of Drivecam events and corrective actions implemented

Local Accountabilities

• Daily fuel management and capturing of fuel 
• Profitability of business unit as per budgets set and ensuring all costs are kept to a minimum
• Ensure all reports and schedules are available and up to date at all times
• Customer and business KPI`s are met at all times
• Daily communication with Transport Manager

Requirements

• Matric
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• 5 to 7 years of work experience
• Must be able to manage a Headcount of 70 + Employees
