Transport Controller (3PL)

SUMMARY:
Our client, a global trading, logistics and distribution company, currently seeks a Transport Controller, experienced in 3PL, to provide administrative and financial services to be able to ensure that an effective, accurate, administrative and effective operation is achieved.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Matric.
• Vessels and container experience.
• 3PL Transport experience.
• Knowledge of Pastel Evolution will be an advantage.

Key Performance Indicators:

Transport Procedures:

• Daily planning, routing and scheduling of vehicles.
• Ensure all cargo uplifted from the Port within the allocated timeframe and turned in on time avoid demurrage/storage charges.
• Ensure that all transporters are contacted and kept updated with regards to their progress and delivery changes.
• Ensure that all relevant and correct documentation is handed to the transporter prior to each upliftment.
• Ensure the pre-departure and debrief transporters for any special requirements of the client.
• Escalate any issues which cannot be resolved to management, advising whether any pending claims.
• Ensure all loads are adequately insured and high value loads monitored from loading to delivery.
• Adhere to booking slots for direct deliveries.
• Understand the cargo loading and dispatch procedures.

Invoicing and Purchase Order Procedures:

• Daily receiving and processing of transport and purchase orders.
• Daily invoicing.
• Ensure that all Drivers hand in all relevant documentation pertaining to their respective deliveries, i.e. DN/PODs.
• Ensure all PODs are scrutinised for any damages or deliveries not done.

Communication Skills:

• Provide excellent communication to all customers, suppliers and Management.
• Respond to telephone calls regarding breakdowns, accidents and delays.
• Liaise with loading and offloading sites with regards to any delays.
• Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles.
• Keep Manager updated at all times with regards to progress or delays with regards to any deliveries.

Customer Service

• Work with customers, planning routes and scheduling delivery and always meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations.
• Build and maintain relationships with key customers, both internal and external.
• All other actions required for successful delivery to clients.
• Assist with queries relating to your shipments.
