Transactional Buyer

My client in is currently looking for suitably qualified candidate for the position of a Transactional Buyer in the Procurement Department. This position reports to the Procurement Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation and related standards to optimise procurement operations. You will be responsible for supporting the Procurement and Inventory Manager in implementing effective procurement processes and for developing and managing positive relationships with vendors.

Key performance areas:

• Support embedding of best practices, minimum standards, policies, processes, tools, technology and enablers and capability development strategy.

• Manage input of POs into system and actively track and report on progress, prioritise and expedite POs based on business need and ensure compliance to established PO processes and terms.

• Manage 3 quote process using Scan market through to PO creation and execution.

• Build strong understanding of supplier landscape and PO specific needs.

• Execute vendor fact finding activities and qualifications.

• Ensure buying processes is procedurally compliant and documentation for audit and SHERQ purposes are available.

• Work with line management to gather performance data and use to manage quality of service with established vendors.

• Negotiate advantageous terms and conditions with vendor.

• Resolve issues with suppliers in conjunction with end user.

• Ensure accurate and analysable data entry to enable streamlined PO analytic reporting.

• Source one-offs purchases requested by end users.

• Establish and communicate sourcing requirement criteria and work with cross functional teams to ensure all information is available.

• Communicate with line managers and suppliers to ensure Procurement expectations are being met.

• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives by leveraging spend.

• Implement and oversee effective and efficient service delivery and resolution of issues affecting delivery or supply constraints.

• Implement and monitor continuous improvement practises in Procurement and Supply Chain.

• Support implementation of ‘fit for purpose’ technology to enable effective Procurement systems.

• Entrench and work with enablers to promote success (e.g. systems and processes).

Minimum specifications / requirement areas

• Relevant 3 year degree/diploma (B Com, Engineering, BSc).

• 3 years Procurement/Purchasing/Supply chain management experience.

• Technical knowledge and understanding of Procurement processes and Supply Chain Management.
