Training and Development Officer

POSITION INFO:

The training and development officer has the duty of managing the learning and professional development of the organisation''s workforce. Responsible for identifying and assessing the training needs of the employees, plan, organise, facilitate training interventions, and oversee that appropriate training is conducted and followed through. A fair amount of administration is required with, i.e. needs analysis, training programme, SETA involvement, reports, etc.

All duties take place in accordance with the requirements of the client, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation. Duties include the following:

• Developing training and development strategies with line managers by considering  staff requirements
• Analysing training needs annually, in conjunction with line managers
• Planning, directing and delivering training and development programmes including staff inductions, to accomplish the organisation’s goals
• Administering regular, detailed needs assessments to identify skills deficits
• Design training courses and programmes necessary to meet training needs and the skills gaps identified, or manage this activity via external service providers
• Addressing skills deficits through tailored in-house training
• Facilitate learning programs and interventions where appropriate to do so
• Coordinating external training as the need arises
• Ensuring that all learning and development initiatives are within budget and that the budget is fully utilised
• Monitor and report on activities, costs, performance, etc. as required
• Monitoring staffs'' performance by liaising with line managers and department heads
• Assist with learnership and internship interventions where necessary
• Availing yourself as a sounding board for all employees with the explicit aim of improving their orientation and training
• Upholding confidentiality, unless legally mandated to do otherwise
• Promoting an open knowledge-sharing environment that builds knowledge, skills and service for the benefit of the organisation as a whole
• Liaising with existing staff to clarify job descriptions and related expectations
• Studying and contributing to the operations and climate of our company
• Submit monthly and quarterly reports, or as and when needed

Education & Experience 

• Matric/ Grade 12
• Post School : Higher Certificate / Diploma / Bachelor''s degree (preferably in HR / Education /Teaching).
• Job Related : MS Office (especially PowerPoint, Outlook, Word & Excel);
• Other : Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License
• Own reliable motor vehicle – Extensive travelling required
• Experience : At least 3 years’ experience as a Training Officer
• Proven track record of boosting company growth through training Knowledgeable: Services SETA
