SUMMARY:
An exclusive private game reserve bordering a World Heritage-listed national park in the far north of Limpopo is seeking experienced TRAIL GUIDE / HEAD GUIDE candidates to join their team.
POSITION INFO:
Two guiding positions are available on this remote, Big Five reserve; candidates may apply for either level, with placement and salary dependent on qualifications and experience. This is a hands-on role for guides who thrive on sharing the bush with guests on foot and by vehicle.
Core Criteria:
- FGASA qualification essential; relevant trails/walking qualification required for Trail Guide and Head Guide levels
- Proven experience leading game drives and guided walks in Big Five terrain
- Strong knowledge of local flora, fauna and ecology
- Valid firearm competency (relevant calibre)
- Excellent guest engagement and storytelling ability
- Comfortable living and working in a remote bush environment
- For Head Guide: proven leadership experience and ability to mentor junior guiding staff
- Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work well as part of a small team
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead game drives and guided walks, ensuring guest safety at all times
- Share knowledge of wildlife, ecology and conservation with guests in an engaging manner
- Maintain firearm competency and adhere to all safety protocols
- Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance as required
- Head Guide only: mentor and support junior guides, and oversee guiding standards across the team
On Offer:
- Trail Guide R12,500–R15,000 per month, depending on experience
- Head Guide R15,000–R25,000 per month, depending on experience
