JOB DESCRIPTION:

Short Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is commodity risk management and trading and hedging of price-determining variables. The purpose is to identify, quantify and manage these risks to the best value of the company and its stakeholders within the agreed mandate. Your focus will be on seed procurement, pricing and hedging, FX exposure management, hedging of import and export products, meal and oil by-products hedging, supplier and market development as well as the procurement of soft oils, and lauric oils, fats and animal by-products.

Responsibilities:
  • Trading
    • Buy, sell and trade commodity and FX futures on behalf of SOILL.
    • Prepare reports of all trading transactions and measure trading and hedging performance.
    • Create procurement strategies (based on MRP demands) for SOILL, mitigating cost and risk.
    • Monitor and analyze markets and report market conditions to Senior Management.
    • Overall hedge position management for canola, meal and oils.
    • Weekly management reporting (CTRM) on past week highlights and future strategies.
    • Segregation of position and PnL for seeds, FX, proteins and oils.
    • Propose, implement and maintain trading strategies on underlying commodities and forex exposures.
    • Maintain and manage the active relationship with customers and role-players in the market.
    • Actively increase client base with protein and oils database.
    • Attend relevant trade conferences to build trade networks and relationships.
    • Increase overall monthly volumes in proteins and vegoils.
    • Pricing and negotiating of delivered oil and protein business to SOILL and customers.
    • Critical involvement and driving of information flow within the physicals market.
    • Pricing of import cargo accurately to clients, but always manage a market-related price.
    • Information flow and pricing of competitors of protein and vegoils.
    • Maintain supply and demand information of local and international markets.
    • Quality and Quantity management of proteins and oils in line with policies.
    • Crush margin hedging and arbitrage trading to capture market opportunities.
    • Develop and execute a business plan on forwarding projections to reach PnL within policy targets.
  • Procurement Administration
    • Align and drive MRP planning in collaboration with Demand Planner and Key Accounts Manager.
    • Communicate demand forecast with suppliers and manage supplier stock levels.
    • Providing full contact details to the administrative team to capture purchase orders and contracts.
    • Preparing trade reports and providing strategic input.
    • Overall position and exposure reporting.
  • Coconut Procurement (Remote Assistance)
    • Strategically establish a supply chain regarding coconut traceability, sustainability, and farmer engagement.
    • Establishing a raw material sustainability plan to secure and build a supply model in place for raw materials and establish a loyal supplier database.
    • Work closely with the team in Mozambique to build a raw material plan.
    • Build a costing frame to secure raw material that is beneficial to both parties.
    • Possibly travel to Mozambique to implement informal supplier development.
Key Competencies:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelors in Commerce/ Procurement/ Supply Chain Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in commodity trading, broking, and risk management
  • At least 2 years of experience in agribusiness management
  • A valid driver’s license with own vehicle and willingness to travel
  • Experience in informal trading will be an advantage
  • Fluent in English and able to understand Portuguese will be an advantage
  • Computer Literate in MS Office and SAP
