An opportunity has arisen for a Toolprover with our automotive client in Uitenhage.
POSITION INFO:
Requirements:
- Technical field qualification and relevant tooling and CNC/deemed equivalent
- Minimum 4 years Engineering/Maintenance experience after qualified
- Basic computer literacy
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, and electrical
- Maintenance process, measuring tools and equipment
- Knowledge of OHS act and applicable ISO systems and standards
Duties:
- Conduct test runs with completed tools and dies to ensure that produced parts meet specifications, make adjustments as necessary.
- Cut, shape and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths and shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules and hand tools.
- File, grim, shim and adjust different parts to properly fit together.
- Fit and assemble parts and tooling, to make, repair, or modify jigs, dies, gauges and tools using machine tools and hand tools.
- Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity and defects.
- List, position and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks or angle plates.
- Measure, mark and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes and rulers.
- Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes (all tooling inclusive).
- Ensure spare tooling is prepared and ready for fitment with measurement attached as applicable.
- Any other related activities as may be required.
