SUMMARY:
Test Manager for a testing team in Glasgow.
POSITION INFO:
A pioneering tech company in Glasgow is looking to bring on board a Test Manager.
The company are leaders in their (niche!) field, and have done some interesting and varied projects across the UK from Shetland to Glasgow, as well as further afield (the rest of the UK, Europe and the US).
This role is based within their product development team; they both have their own range of products and work with clients to create bespoke products too. You''ll be joining and managing a team of five or six like-minded Test Engineers and will be responsible for testing, both manual and automated, with a particular focus on systems testing.
You''ll be a hands-on Test Manager, and whilst the bulk of your role will be to manage, you will also be carrying out the testing, so it''s essential you are still keen on a hands-on role. Currently the testing is split - 80/20 in favour of manual testing and the goal is to turn this around, with the bulk of the testing being automated. This means that previous experience helping developing automated testing would be ideal in this role.
The type of work the company do is a little bit different, not your typical software technology company so there''s the opportunity to delve in some varied projects that are beneficial to the planet!
You''ll have most of the following skills/experience:
*Agile environment
*Automated testing (BDD framework)
*Experience with Python or Java for automated testing
*System testing/SIT
*Test plan, test execution, reports and documentation
*Windows and Linux platform
*Managing the test planning and execution
*Manage the overall testing function, developing best practices
Bonus experience:
*Hardware/virtual computer system environments
*Network components and concepts
The role is a little bit different in that their products are a mix of software and hardware and although you will be focused on software testing, experience with hardware environments and network components (like VPN, remote desktop, firewalls etc.) would be a huge bonus! It might be that you were previously in a Network Engineer/Support Engineer type role at some point and have made the shift to software testing, or you might just have some knowledge around this.
The salary on offer is up to £60,000 dependent on experience, plus an annual bonus (based off company performance). Other benefits include 33 days holiday, 7.5% matched pension contribution and life assurance.
