SUMMARY:
Test Analyst (first in the company) required for a tech team in Edinburgh (remote working right now).
POSITION INFO:
A tech company in Edinburgh is looking to add to their rapidly growing team with a Tester for the first time.
The company act both as a consultancy to a variety of different industries, helping companies who have tended to struggle with their technical offering in the past, as well as building a range of different product offerings inhouse as well - so work is very varied! They''ve had quite a bit of investment recently as well, winning several contracts for new projects in 2021.
Most of the company is made up of the technical team (about 70%) so testing has been handled this far, but the team need someone who can set up good practices and processes to develop the testing function further.
Ideally you will be a Tester with a couple of years of commercial testing experience behind you and if you are ISTQB/ISEB certified that would be great (but it''s not a necessity!). You''ll be able to draw upon your experience, looking at what has worked best in the past for you and the wider team and bringing this on board. The majority of their work is across mobile and web-based applications, and the core of the testing will be functional testing, system testing and API testing.
Almost more important than the above skillset, is your ability to communicate. The team is fairly small which means you will be working directly with their clients from time to time. This means explaining testing and technical terms to people who may not be technical, so being able to bridge that gap is really important!
You will have most of the following skills/experience:
** Functional and system testing
** API testing
** Agile/Scrum environment
** Experience in a small team/as a solo Tester
** Testing across mobile and web applications
** Strong communication skills - client facing experience would be ideal
** Map business and technical requirements
In return, the company are dedicated to developing your potential. In the past, they''ve funded various certifications that has allowed the technical team to develop their skills (and be able to prove it!) and are able to offer a lot of responsibility and autonomy to allow you to develop career wise. This could mean long-term moving into a more managerial role and mentoring a Junior Tester, or it could mean the company investing in automation testing and you be able to develop that skillset, or it could be just taking advantage of the time they actively set aside (10% of the week) to work on your own passion project.
Right now the team are working from home, and plan to for the foreseeable future but would like someone fairly local to Edinburgh.
The salary on offer is between £23,000 - £33,000 depending on level of experience, and the company offers a benefits package including a discretionary 10% bonus.
