Temporary Buyer - chemical

SUMMARY:

An established manufacturer of agrochemicals is seeking a seeking a temporary Buyer to purchase stock items from approved suppliers when required.

POSITION INFO:


Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have completed Matric / Grade 12
• A Diploma in Purchasing would be advantageous
• Minimum 1 – 5 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment will be required
• Previous experience in sourcing and purchasing is a pre-requisite

• Sourcing and placing orders for stock items, as per requests from Logistics Controllers and the Commercial Manager.
• Processing purchase orders through the ERP system.
• Communicating with suppliers with regard to availability, below spec supplies, wrong prices, incorrect deliveries, etc.
• Pro-actively drawing stock back from crop advisor depots, or other central warehouses, before placing new orders.
• Monitoring stock ageing at the 3 central warehouses, trying to move this product before placing new orders.
• Managing working capital by preventing wasteful or duplicate orders and negotiating extended payment terms.
• Providing logistics controllers with information regarding product availability and when not available, expected date for stock been available.
• Running weekly and monthly reports timeously.
• Monitoring the outstanding order report and taking action when required.
• Performing relief function for Buyers, Import Clerks and Logistics Services Co-ordinators when required.
• Complying with all SHEQ systems implemented relating to the position.
• Adhering to all internal control policies as directed by Management.
• Taking part in monthly stock takes.
• Managing and executing sales orders of key direct customers.
• Implementing special projects as and when required.
• Serving as a relief for the Commercial Manager in terms of purchasing roles and responsibilities.
• Assisting with updating and reviewing price lists.
• Ensuring all supplier GRN’s are captured by relevant parties on a weekly basis.
• Placing bulk special deals and ensuring price and payment terms are properly communicated to relevant parties.
