Temp Financial Accountant (3 months)

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

• Manage and account on all the bank transactions and advise the Finance Manager and managers on any applicable creditor or bank transactions. Maintain proper Financial Performance reconciliations as well as ensure that all accounting laws and rules are adhered to. 

Outputs:

• Preparing of payments and ensuring of payments on SAGE X3 and upload into the Bank on time.
• Complete Creditors payment reconciliations against the applicable supplier statement.
• Reconcile the payment against the SAGE X3 creditor statement.
• SCM and all creditor documents are attached to every payment.
• Bank reports print and get approval for payment
• Foreign Supplier payments to be managed and captured according to the applicable rules.
• Payment by the bank of the foreign supplier captured accordingly in SAGE X3
• Complete foreign currency valuation adjustment where applicable and at year end.
• Liaise with the applicable suppliers on any issues on invoices, goods receipt and /or supplier statements.
• Prepare Commitments Schedule monthly from Open purchase order report and open purchase requests reports.
• SAGE and file, with supporting documents.
• Compiles journals for misallocations, corrections and accruals.
• Posting of supplier invoices on SAGE X3
• Realisation and reconciliation of grant income
• Bursary payment reconciliation
• Complete monthly general ledger reconciliations from register list with supporting documents.
• Provides Internal Audit support and documents as required
• Complete and provide required documentation to support the External Audit and satisfy requests and queries raised
• Preparation of Management Accounts
• Weekly reconciliation of the bank account.
• Contact the bank on any issues e.g., foreign creditor information etc.
• Upload of payments and download of proof of payments
• Upload and management of prepaid cards
• File, store, retrieve and safeguard source and face-value documents
• Ensure that all source documents are approved before filing is done and filing is done according to established procedures
• Prepare all financial reports (including but not limited to Management Accounts and Cost Centre Reports) as required by the Finance department and/or the business

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in Finance Management/Accounting (NQF level 7) required
• 5 years’ experience as a Financial Accountant
• Competencies:
  • Applicable legislative and regulatory framework
  • Public Finance and Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations and guidelines knowledge, and GRAP knowledge.
  • Departmental accounting, planning, and budgeting policies and procedures
  • Principles and practice of accounting
  • Knowledge of reconciliations (Excel: pivot tables and V-Lookup)
  • Knowledge of financial reporting
  • Accounting software – Should have SAGE knowledge and experience using the system
  • Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to read government regulations effectively
