Technician - Energy Modelling and Simulation

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Energy Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team.  The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of time-of-use (TOU) tariffs and wheeling principles and demonstrate competence in modeling and analysis using Excel.  In this role, you will assist in the design, analysis and implementation of electrical systems and contribute to projects that support sustainable energy solutions and focus on optimizing energy usage and costs.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior engineers to design, analyze, and implement electrical systems and solutions with a focus on renewable energy projects.
• Assist in evaluating time-of-use tariff structures and their implications for energy consumption and cost optimization, particularly in the context of renewable energy integration.
• Utilize Excel to create models for energy consumption, cost analysis, and forecasting, ensuring accurate data representation and manipulation.
• Support the development of engineering reports and documentation, including design specifications and project plans specifically for renewable energy applications.
• Conduct research on electrical engineering best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to TOU tariffs.
• Participate in project meetings, providing updates, insights, and recommendations based on findings.
• Assist in optimising systems, identifying issues, and proposing solutions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering and energy management.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of time-of-use tariff structures, wheeling principles and their effect on load management and energy pricing.
• Proven experience and competence in Excel, including advanced functions, data analysis, and modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Digsilent, PV Syst or similar) is a plus.
• Knowledge of measurement and verification principles would be beneficial.

• Internship or experience in electrical engineering or energy management.
