Technician Assistant

SUMMARY:

An opportunity has opened for a Technician Assistant at a Vehicle Dealership in Northam.

POSITION INFO:

The applicant will work closely with the Technicians, by assisting them with the repair and servicing of motor vehicles according to factory/distributor''s standards and specifications, assisting with fitment of accessories on vehicles and any other duties as assigned by the Workshop Manager or Foreman. It is important that candidates have a high attention to detail.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Grade 12 – (Mathematics & Science a must have)
• Basic Computer skills
• Ability to attend internal (company) training as well as externa training, attend training programmes as well as writing exams or being formally assessed for acquired skills
• Bilingual in Afrikaans and English
• Non-smoker.
• Valid driver’s license (Code 8)
• Own transport to place of work

Duties (include, but not limited to):

• Assist in the repair and servicing of vehicles according to dealer / distributor standards and within the flat rate time allowed.
• Together with technician, establish parts required for service / repair to be performed and ensured correct parts are ordered.
• Report to technician promptly on any additional work required.
• Obtain authorization prior to carrying out additional work or dismantling components.
• Obtain technical information from technician on problem jobs.
• Adhere strictly to technical specifications as laid down by manufacturer, or as instructed by technician.
• Adhere to laid down workshop policies and procedures.
• Note the description of all work performed on the back of Repair Order if required.
• Place all used parts in plastic bag, except oil & fuel filters, and place on passenger floor as proof of work done.
• All warranty replaced parts to be tagged according to laid down rules, and handed to Parts Dept.
• Ensure all oils and parts used are booked out on Repair Order.
• Ensure vehicle is kept as clean as possible, and use all protective items supplied.
• Ensure time started and completed is entered on Repair Order.
• Report any faulty and / or broken equipment is reported to technician/Foreman.
• Ensure all special tools and equipment is used with utmost care.
• Ensure work bay is kept safe, clean and tidy.
