Job Specification
Title:                            Technical Sales Representative
Department:               Sales & Marketing
Region:                        Based in Modderfontein with Regional Sales Responsibility.

Package:                      Basic of R6000 + Car Allowance of R4000 + Communication Allowance of R400 + Fuel Allowance of R3678, pension (see below), monthly commission and 6 monthly performance bonus.

Additional Incentive:    Quarterly volume bonus. Mauritius incentive.

Current Turnover:          Average of R600 000 monthly.
Current Commission:     Approximately R25 000 monthly, subject to performance.
 
Description:
A well-established coatings manufacturer in Modderfontein is looking for the services of a Technical Sales Representative. The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for generating and sustaining new business sales and repeat business whilst maintaining relationship with customers and ensuring customer satisfaction within a geographic area of responsibility. The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for the achievement of sales objectives within the relevant area of responsibility and works very closely with the National Sales Manager. The Technical Sales Representative represents the entire company’s brand and product range, though may focus selectively, dependent on the requirements as identified. Key area encompasses the sale of light industrial coatings to industrial end users. The position requires energy, passion, commitment and the drive to succeed.  The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for the daily sales and customer satisfaction activities in the market, ensuring that objectives are met and exceeded and presents our company products and solutions to prospects.
Existing customer base within the greater Boksburg, Alberton, Wadeville, Germiston and Vereeniging area.

Requirements
:
  • Demonstrable sales ability and sales track record (non-negotiable).
  •  
  • Demonstrable ability to generate and close new business.
  • Coatings or industrial sales experience beneficial.
  • Ability to operate within an industrial environment.
  • Matric essential.
  • Own dependable transport essential.
  • Must reside within East Rand area (Boksburg, Kemptonpark, Germiston, Alberton areas ).
  • Strong personality, high energy levels and self-driven.
  • Mature and responsible demeanour.
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times.
  • Friendly demeanour and good interpersonal skills.
  • Sales and profit driven.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales and financial targets and any additional targets which may be set by the company from time to time (new accounts, non-billing accounts, key products, call activity etc).
  • Develop sales action plans relating to product, brand, geographic area and sales channel in order to ensure that set targets are achieved and exceeded.
  • Proactively identify changes in the paint industry and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly.
  • Identify new sales opportunities and increase the number and depth of active accounts. Generate new business and rejuvenate lost business.
  • Acquire referrals and engage in networking activities.
  • Upsell and cross sell products to maximize revenue.
  • Manage customers from acquisition, through maintenance and growth, with the emphasis on attention to detail, value add and service delivery.
  • Have a full understanding of customer needs and requirements.
  • Have a broad understanding of the customers industry and business.
  • Pro-actively address customers needs and identify opportunities for the Company ito increased revenue.
  • Ensure that specific customer requirements are clearly communicated to the responsible company staff and fully understood at point of order.
  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, selling price and GP by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
  • Ensure that the correct pricing is implemented at all customers and ensure the effective roll out of annual / periodic price increases to customers within their geographic area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that the pricing strategy and relevant price lists are fully understood and ensure that they are utilised appropriately.
  • Be an ambassador of the company’s brands and products.
  • Adhere to the internal sales processes and procedures and specified by the company.
  • Full understanding of the company’s systems and processes and the management of day-to-day activity relating to customer account
  • Ensure that company processes are understood and adhered to at all times.
  • Is responsible for customer service levels within the geographic area.
  • Become the main day-to-day point of contact (primary contact point) between the customer and the company.
  • Take ownership of all customer problems and complaints, ensuring that they are effectively and efficiently handled and closed-off.
  • Ensure ethical, honest and professional business dealings with all customers.
  • Assist the accounts department in the resolution of account queries when necessary.
  • Ensure sales productivity (call activity, closing rates etc) and efficiencies are maximized.
  • Regional travel with Gauteng required..
  • Propose product innovation concepts and provide marketing input when necessary.
  • Establish productive, professional relationships with customers ensuring customer retention and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of product knowledge and technical training.
  • Handle all technical and customer queries effectively and efficiently.
  • Prevent competitor products from encroaching on market share within the geographic area.
  • Assist customers with technical advice and add value to their business through product and process knowledge and exemplary service.
  • Supply monthly reports and feedback on performance as and when requested.
  • Call on customers according to the call scheduler / approved cycle.
  • Maintenance own CRM data.
  • Submit daily call reports and any additional reports as may be required.
  • Assist with any promotions and events as may be required from time to time.
  • Ensure that all tasks and activities are carried out effectively and efficiently, with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, professionalism.
  • Take ownership of identified problems/ issues ensuring that identified problems are effectively resolved and close-off (“not passing the buck”).
