SUMMARY:

Our client, a leader in the IT and business solutions provider, is looking for a dynamic Technical Systems Administrator/Data Administrator to join their team in Johannesburg. This candidate is proficient in Linux management and ensures adequate security and optional performance of the operating system.

POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities

To secure the Unix system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
To install and manage Linux based Servers (Red hat and Centos)
Monitoring servers using Nagios xi and Network bandwidth with MRTG
Install and maintain security patches on the operational and development system, which includes but is not limited to, Red Hat Linux, Windows 2012, VMWare, PostgreSQL, and Apache web services.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Linux printer installation and maintenance (cups)
Linux Password hardening (PAM)
Install and manage apache web server and tomcat (http, https)

Requirements

Intermediate administrators experience with at least one or two years’ actual experience of working on Linux systems
Appropriate degree is an advantage
