Technical Manager

SUMMARY:
A well established fishing company seeks a seasoned Technical Manager who will be responsible for the optimal operations of all fleet within the organisation. Note this position requires for the individual to relocate to the West Coast of Western Cape- St Helena Bay.

AREA          :  ST. HELENA BAY, WEST COAST, CAPE TOWN
SALARY      :  MARKET RELATED

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To ensure that the Company’s vessels(fleet) are 100% operational to meet with the agreed business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Matric
• B.Sc./B.Tech. Degree in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in a Marine technical operation, 
• MUST come from the Fishing/Marine industry 
• Experience with ideally Pelagic Fishing/Deep sea fishing vessels from a technical perspective.
• Hydraulics technical experience on Vessels
• SAMSA and OSH Act proficient
• MS Office suite, AutoCad and MS Projects proficient
• SAP knowledge, specifically regarding the management of maintenance & capex 
• Must be able to relocate & reside on the West Coast, Cape Town

• Implement planned maintenance, development procedures and standards in accordance with legislative requirements, internal policies, and procedures to ensure smooth operation of the Fleet
• Liaising with clients, crew and local stakeholders
• Reduce costs and improve reliability of fleet
• Improve operating efficiencies and reduce breakdowns
• Logistics of activities during off-season is well planned and effective in conjunction with fleet maintenance team
• Responsible for ensuring that the documentation and filing system is in accordance with the company’s Code
• Monitor, manage and report technical operations and performance of assigned technicians, in conjunction with the on-board management, to ensure that applicable requirements for safety, quality, energy efficiency and environmental objectives are met
• Conducting Company Quality/Health and Safety and Environmental Audits
• Identify and initiate plant capital expenditure in line with company policies and procedures
• Management, discipline and developing of fleet maintenance, workshop, safety and net personnel
• Evaluate and select service providers for development services with emphasis on furthering the company''s objectives regarding BEE
• Responsible for company adherence to all legislative requirements regarding all vessels and equipment
