Technical Buyer

SUMMARY:
Company specializing in rental or sales of welding, lifting and rigging equipment

POSITION INFO:

MAIN PURPOSE

To process and place all international orders for plant rental equipment Company

 RESPONSIBILITIES

• Purchasing of various goods including machinery, equipment and raw materials
• Review purchase orders, conferring with other departments to verify orders, contacting vendors and evaluating quotations offered by suppliers
• Assist with the development and implementation of various purchasing procedures, inventories, accounts and proposals
• Process special orders for customers
• Request inventory counts and/or stock checks where appropriate
• Obtain and negotiate prices, delivery, terms and sources of supply
• Verify charges indicated on purchase orders and requisitions against cost centre accounts
• Verify bids offered on "substitute" items against specifications and, if necessary, with ordering departments.
• Monitor supplier performance with regards delivery, quality and quantity           
• Expedite goods by contacting vendors regarding shortages and administering overcharges and breakages.
• Evaluate and check all reorder reports
• Negotiations with import suppliers
• Negotiate freight forwarders/evaluations of costs
• GRV of imports
• Prepare files for signoff by supply chain and managing Director
• File and record keeping of all documentation
• Keep supply chain and product managers up to date with weekly eta of deliveries and daily changes as they happen
• Make imports payment arrangements with finance and do daily 48h follow-ups
• Special import orders from branches
• Weekly investigation of stock levels on imports and discuss with supply chain weekly
• Assist in sourcing for new import suppliers with product managers

REQUIREMENTS

• A relevant tertiary qualification 
• Fully computer literate
• Must have 5+ years buying experience in technical products such as machinery, equipment and raw materials
