Technical BI Business Analyst

POSITION INFO:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate to Senior Technical or BI Business Analyst (BA) to join our clients team. This role is highly cross-functional and requires someone who has curiosity about a wide range of technical and business subjects, and a willingness to get stuck in where necessary. Your time will be more or less evenly spent as a BA, assisting the business develop and improve their systems and processes, and on analytics, understanding and exploiting the data these systems and processes create.

Learning new skills and systems should come easily to you. Data is the lifeblood of an organization and so having a deep understanding of how data flows through systems is essential. You will need to be able trace issues and errors through the systems and assist the development team in finding the root cause.

You will work with a dynamic and diverse team to maintain and develop the reporting infrastructure, working closely with the lead architect to achieve this, all with a strong focus in supporting them to develop and maintain world-class user experiences for both customers and colleagues.

Role Responsibilities:

• Business Process Management and Analysis, supporting the development of their systems
• Working with the lead architect to ensure reporting security, availability, infrastructure and other non-functional requirements are met
• Building and maintaining aspects of their reporting and dashboarding infrastructure, including regular and ad-hoc reports
• Analysis (root-cause) and fixing of system requests, issues and incidents
• Tracking and reporting on incidents, problems and fixes
• Assisting other employees with technology-related queries and requests (e.g. data extracts, user management)
• Setting up and maintaining off-the-shelf and platform-as-a-service software
• Working within an Agile team

Skills:

• SQL (MySQL)
• Data Analysis (They use AWS Quicksight, but it’s similar to Power BI, Tableau, etc)
• Business Analysis
• Business Process Management
• Agile SCRUM methodology

Advantageous experience (not required):

• Experience with Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, etc)
• Data warehousing and data management
• Familiarity with ITIL or COBIT standards
• Some coding familiarity

Education:

• Technical Honors preferred (computer science, engineering, business science)

• This role can evolve into a Team Lead role for their data team.
