SUMMARY:
The University of Fort Hare seeks to appoint a permanent Technical Assistant / Handy Man, with excellent customer service to internal and external university stakeholders.
POSITION INFO:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 11, equivalent, or 5 years related experience
- Good knowledge of either Electrical, Building, Carpentry, Welding, Painting or Plumbing trade.
- Must be willing to work after hours if and when required
- Good time management
- Ability to prioritize and organise tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Conduct routine maintenance checks of all structures in offices and residences according to maintenance plan provided by Supervisor.
· Repair and fit doors, door locks, handles and hinges. Repair small office equipment like chairs and desks etc.
· Assist University staff and students by giving all the relevant information and support. Ensure sound communication with university community and effective service delivery. Build relationships with other departments / teams.
· Ensure the full functionality of University facilities by following the requirements of the preventative maintenance plan.
· Provide all other building maintenance, repair, and restorative procedures as directed
· Painting and redecoration of university buildings.
· Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested.
· Carry out flooring covering and tiling work.
