Team Leader - Claims Individual Life

SUMMARY:
The purpose of this job is to manage the individual life and group risk claims teams.

POSITION INFO:
Take responsibility for the business team to execute instructions received via processes within the framework of the business area and to ensure the day to day tasks, outputs and adhoc initiatives are actioned and SLA''s adhered to.
This includes ensuring that the service provided to internal stakeholders and external clients is available as per SLA agreed; sufficient planning is performed to ensure capacity for continued task execution and service delivery and being accountable for all activities within the business team of the company.


Your qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 (Essential)
- Relevant tertiary qualification (OT/ Nursing/ Physiotherapy would be advantageous)
- Claims management experience in individual life and group risk (Essential)
- Minimum 3 years management experience within long-term insurance industry
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a group risk/ Individual life assessor
- Proven experience in running a successful customer team that adds customer value and alignment to the company goals and strategic objectives (Essential)


Your Outputs (include but is not limited to):
- Provide optimal staff capacity with correct skills.
- Contain and improve cost effectiveness of functions provided
- Implementation of agreed initiatives to improve operational efficiency and customer experience
- Ensure that the various SLAs are adhered to and delivered at agreed quality standards, set targets to facilitate continuous improvement of both SLA and quality standards
- Monitor external perception rating and ensure that the scores are within the agreed targets
- Identifying and reporting on service failures and errors
- Ensure and assist with training and development of junior and middle management
- Contribute to the various cross functional forums to help improve efficiencies in other areas
- Ensuring that all correspondence is professional and in line with standards and protocols of the organisation
- Help manage and determine the budget of the business area
- Interact with executive management in other business areas to ensure clear communication and service delivery to other business functions
- Help formulate strategy of business area


Your skills and character traits:
- MS Office and PC literate
- Facilitating executive and senior level executive engagements (Essential)
- Understanding structures of products
- Sound Business and Operational knowledge of Insurance industry
- Good knowledge of the business administration platforms
- Familiar with Compliance Processes and Procedures in the Insurance Industry
- Familiar with the business products and their rules and workings
- Demonstrate the aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Ability to take initiative and carry out assigned tasks to completion
- Manage time and resources well and demonstrates good organizational abilities
- Work under pressure when required and be available to work overtime when the role and responsibilities require it
