SUMMARY:
Lead the technical team responsible for digital channels, DevOps, workflow and web services.

POSITION INFO:

Functions
ï‚· Lead the technical team responsible for digital channels, DevOps, workflow and web services.
ï‚· Enhance the Development Operations environment by designing, constructing and supporting the architecture for the technical domains.
ï‚· Design, develop and maintain software solutions within the organisation.
ï‚· Own and manage the web services and ERP integration layer.
ï‚· Ensure the implementation of system architecture, system design and projects in area of responsibility.
ï‚· Take ownership of development processes, the SDLC life-cycle and technical execution of projects.
ï‚· Coordinate the execution of technical projects and tasks with team.
ï‚· Communicate and coordinate with the various business role players.
ï‚· Review requirements, evaluate technical implementation ability, and determine systems impact.
ï‚· Ensure technical coordination between team members and ensure efficient team performance and efficient management of external development partners.
ï‚· Document and guide the team to document architecture and system designs for the domains.
ï‚· Help to identify and document requirements from stakeholders and manage the process by engaging with Business Analysts and stakeholders.
ï‚· Prioritise requirements and coordinate with the team to ensure successful sprint planning and execution.
ï‚· Manage the creation of test plans, ensure sign-off and make sure that software is released.
ï‚· Document the process architecture and the integration architecture.
ï‚· Review processes and improve performance, agility and sustainability of the technical teams.
ï‚· Implement, manage and act according to the IT Governance Charter and IT Governance Framework.
ï‚· Stay current with developments within the technical environment and insurance landscape, with a view to proposing opportunities that will affect bottom-line savings and/or mitigate risks and/or enhance effectiveness throughout the organisation.
ï‚· Establish an appropriate structure to achieve objectives and manage the business unit’s actions, staff complement and resources.
ï‚· Ensure constant operational efficiency through innovation within areas under control.
ï‚· Continuously evaluate plans, actions and resources to ensure that objectives are achieved.
ï‚· Manage and negotiate contracts, SLA’s, delivery with-in budget

Requirements
ï‚· An applicable tertiary diploma/degree.
ï‚· Eight years’ relevant software development experience, of which two years should have been leading a technical team.
ï‚· Must possess knowledge and experience of the following:
- Full-stack developer experience, such as HTML, CSS, Java, SQL, PHP, Python, JavaScript; also .Net, K2 or other workflow and process automation tools; mobile app development;
- Frameworks for e.g. Bootstrap
- Agile methodologies and their practical implementations;
- SQL and DB design,
- Project management methodologies; and
- Development life-cycles.
ï‚· Valid K53 driving licence.
ï‚· Computer literacy in MS Office (advanced).
ï‚· Leadership competencies – Agility & change leadership, delivering results, empowering others, continuous improvement and leading innovation.
ï‚· Enabling competencies – abstract reasoning, numerical reasoning, data analytics, digital readiness and solution complexity.
ï‚· Core competencies – collaboration and teamwork, managing others and planning & organising.
