POSITION INFO:

A leading, exciting and trusted energy brand in Cape Town is seeking a Tax Accountant to join their growing team. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of customs and excise legislation, previous SAP experience, ability to work with internal customers as well as external entities. This is a contract role and therefore will be seeking immediately available individuals. If this is you, please apply.

Responsibilities:

Produce DA160 Excise account, payment of Customs and Excise on a monthly basis
Finalize DA160 customs account and supporting schedules
Finalize payment requests for payment of Fuel Levy, Excise and Road Accident Fund levy, Slate levy, IIRL levy and Pipeline levy
Produce journal entries to account for rebates, loss allowances, etc at month end
Process payment of relevant Customs duties and Excise on finished product imports
Calculate Customs duties and excise due on imports of finished product
Verify clearance documents are processed by Clearing agents timeously
Review export acquittal documents for compliance to regulatory requirements
Verify original acquittal documents are sent to Head Office by relevant parties
Regularly follow up on outstanding acquittal documentation
Review acquittal documents for compliance to regulatory requirements
Manage SARS queries and audits
Issue SARS/Customs with requested information for Customs audits
Manage monthly account recons of balance sheet accounts for internal control
Verify all Customs and Excise processes are documented and improved where necessary

Requirements:

Must have a B.Tech or B.Com degree in Accounting
CA(SA) or articles experience beneficial
Be immediately available
