Skeerpoort Area â Northwest: This large tunnel operation needs to add a new member to their team

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Agricultural Diploma / Degree and or relevant qualification
Min of 5 years previous vegetable and or herb farm management experience
Proven working knowledge of vegetable production, markets and management
Packhouse management experience, advantageous
Proven management, organization and supervisory experience essential
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans
Computer literate

Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1. All steps for the production of crops including growing program development, crop production, planting, fertilization, harvesting.

2. Select and purchase supplies like seeds, fertilizers, and farm equipment.

3. Make sure that all farm equipment is maintained properly

4. General maintenance and ensuring the appearance of the farm is neat.

5. Instruct and adjust worker activities like planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, salary, and record keeping.

6. Analyze market conditions to determine seed allocation.

7. Keep records, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock information, and prepare financial and operational reports

8. Maintain Global Gap certification.

9. Analyze the soil and determine the amount of fertilizer needed for maximum production.

10. Inspect the equipment to ensure proper operation.

11. Make financial statements assessment and budget proposals

12. Handling of audits - Global Gap compliancy

13. Management of fertilizer and pest control programs and scheduling of irrigation etc
