SUMMARY:

Karkloof Area – KwaZulu Natal: Our client is looking for a Timber Farm Manager to join the team.
Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.
 
This is an entry level position.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Preferably diploma in agriculture/ forestry
  • Ability to speak Zulu
  • Agricultural background essential
  • Ability to manage, communicate, work with and motivate staff essential
  • Maintenance orientated
  • Valid driver’s license
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Protecting the assets of company
  • Leading the staff in a responsible manner
  • Managing all projects and work on the farm
  • Maintenance of all farm equipment and vehicles
  • Keeping vagrant livestock and people off the farm, with the support of the security systems in place
  • Managing fire breaks
  • Responding and preventing the spread of fires 24 hours a day
  • Following channel of communication in reporting criminal activity timeously, including:
    • Theft
    • Arson
    • Malicious damage to property
    • Building without authority
    • Livestock without permission or out of designated area; and
    • Illegal hunting
  • Weed control
  • Repairing roads not managed by UCL
  • Checking and repairing fences and gates
  • Checking farm pumps and water systems are working and in good order
  • Managing contractors working on the farm to ensure they carry out their responsibilities properly
  • Protecting the natural resources of the farm in a sustainable manner for future generations; and
  • Ensuring guests are comfortable, secure and cared for when staying at the farm
