Temp - Credit Controller (FMCG) – Cape Town CBD

Our client, is seeking to employ a Temp - Credit Controller (FMCG) 

Position Purpose

• To provide financial information and advice required to support business decisions.
• Conduct on-going performance analysis; provide recommendations and guidance for profitable growth.
• Responsible for Sales related reports and analysis for both Retail and Wholesale.
• To provide financial information and advice required to support business decisions sales and/or cost related within the Sales and Marketing departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review all proposed credit limits for new customers and authorize as appropriate.
• Ensure credit limits are regularly reviewed.
• Ensure all cash received is posted correctly.
• Ensure that all outstanding debt is chased/collected by appropriate medium in a timely manner and that all customers are dealt with consistently and courteously. Including but not limited to the following:
• Resolving of returns, shortages and pricing claims
• Reconciliation of Key Accounts
• Payment allocations
• Ensure that the hold list is processed in a timely manner and outstanding orders kept to minimum to make sure that decision making on order release is consistent.
• Ensure that Monthly reports are prepared and issued including a detailed understanding of large/old items on the report.
• To undertake all legal action for the department
• Oversee month end procedures to ensure that all statements/debt letters are sent out.

Personal Characteristics:

• Needs to have excellent attention to detail, strong PC skills including SAP and Excel;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to influence and communicate clearly at all levels
• Quick Comprehension
• Able to set priorities and clear targets
• High flexibility
• Able to grow with the level of responsibilities and with the size and structure of the business.

Skills & Competencies:

• A minimum of 2 years FMCG experience in Credit Control
• Credit Management certification – Advantageous
• Good understanding of SA Credit regulations/ National Credit Act
• A good understanding of supply chain and invoicing processes
• Should have a good understanding of FMCG market place expectations i.e. should have experience dealing with National retailer accounts
• Credit Control experience to effectively manage cash collection process, returns reconciliations and limit days sales outstanding
• Clear credit and criminal record – as per our client requirements

Salary is negotiable depending on experience
