SUMMARY:
Systems and Database Engineer supporting a 24/7 production environment where infrastructure stability and database performance directly impact business continuity.
The role operates across live systems, ensuring uptime, resolving incidents, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server environments under constant operational demand.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support servers, virtual environments, and hosted systems in a 24/7 environment
- Monitor system health and resolve incidents proactively
- Manage system updates, patches, backups, and disaster recovery processes
- Troubleshoot network and VPN-related issues
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Monitor and optimise database performance (queries, indexing, tuning)
- Manage database backups, replication, and recovery
- Develop SQL scripts for reporting and data extraction
- Ensure data integrity, security, and system availability
- Automate routine tasks and support system monitoring improvements
- Maintain technical documentation and support internal technical teams
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in IT / Computer Science (Degree preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in systems/infrastructure support and/or database administration
- Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs)
- Proficiency in SQL and/or Python scripting
- Experience with backup and recovery processes
- Advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis
