SUMMARY:
Business analyst
POSITION INFO:
The responsibilities of the systems/business analyst team lead will include the following:
a) Take responsibility for a set of applications that support business processes of specific line functions;
b) Continuously assess the relevance and value-add of the respective system(s) and recommend new solutions where necessary;
c) Provide user support and respond to user calls or issues logged with the Helpdesk;
d) Investigate, fix, test and migrate system bugs’ fixes through the different environments;
e) Manage the migration of the system enhancements through the different environments that are used as part of the test plan; and
f) Liaising extensively with clients (external or internal);
g) Analysing existing systems and business models;
h) Mapping and documenting interfaces between legacy and new systems;
i) Understanding software development lifecycle;
j) Translating client requirements into highly specified project briefs;
k) Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability;
l) Conducting requirements analysis and preparing specific proposals for modified or replacement systems; m) Developing solutions and related products;
n) Producing project feasibility and costing reports;
o) Presenting proposals to clients;
p) Working closely with colleagues, developers, testers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction;
q) Ensuring that budgets are adhered to and deadlines are met;
r) Drawing up, supervising and documenting testing schedules for complete systems;
s) Overseeing implementation of a new system including data migration;
t) Planning and working flexibly to deadlines;
u) Supporting users on change control and system updates;
v) Providing training and user manuals to users of a new system;
w) Keeping up to date with technical and industry developments.
2.4 Skills Requirements
It is crucial that the proposed candidate should demonstrate the following experience and skills:
a) Ability to conduct user requirements gathering sessions with different line function managers and translate the requirements into functional specifications;
b) Have familiarity with functional design documents and how they translate to system functionality;
c) Have qualification and experience in application development frameworks and methodologies
d) Have good documentation skills and ability to complete the following documentation: functional design, detailed design, database design, technical architecture design, test scripts and testing procedures and user training manuals;
e) Have experience in drawing business processes using tools such as Microsoft Visio;
f) Have a high level of proficiency in writing Microsoft SQL queries, including sub queries and cursors;
Demonstrate experience and familiarity with configuration management tools, design tools, debugging tools, and any other environment specific tools necessary to create, test, and implement an application;
h) Experience in Microsoft technologies used for application development in the IEC environment will be advantageous (see table below)
i) Be able to engage in formal and informal knowledge transfer;
j) Be able to lead a team and manage project delivery;
k) Have application development/programming experience on a Microsoft platform and using same tools as indicated below.
l) Have ability to communicate clearly – verbally and in written form;
m) Have ability and show willingness to engage in formal and informal knowledge transfer;
n) Have ability to work effectively as part of a team in support of the team’s goals;
o) Demonstrate experience in troubleshooting and problem solving technical issues; and
p) Have deep skills and experience in designing and implementing IT solutions.
