SUMMARY:
A Systems Administrator (IT) Two Years Contract - Renewable based on performance vacancy, is available at our Client, Wits Health Consortium's Clinical Laboratory Services (Wits CLS) in Braamfontein, Johannesburg - Gauteng.

POSITION INFO:

Background

The Clinical Laboratory Services (CLS), is a division of the Wits Health Consortium (WHC) of the School of Pathology. CLS’s main purpose is to support the teaching and research activities of the School of Pathology through the provision of laboratory services, diagnostic and research advice, and data management support in accordance with the standards of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP). 

CLS is an accredited laboratory and has a comprehensive quality management plan to ensure adherence to GCLP and its accreditation standards ensuring the integrity of clinical laboratory for clinical trial study participant care. CLS has achieved ongoing certifications for SANAS (South African National Accreditation System) ISO 15189 and GCLP Accreditation through the British Qualogy Group and is also inspected by the Division of AIDS (DAIDS) annually.

Main purpose of the job

  • Support, implement and maintain all activities of IT operations such as administration tasks, software and hardware products deployed in the organizations

Location

  • Spencer Lister Building, Braamfontein 

Key performance areas

  • Installation of all software and hardware products including Pabx Microsoft products, printers, and all related equipment
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware problems
  • Installation and maintenance of IT cabling
  • Conduct hardware and software upgrades
  • Ensure stable network connectivity
  • Perform daily health checks
  • Troubleshoot system problems
  • Perform daily backups
  • View, assign, and attend to all calls via customer helpdesk
  • Maintain Microsoft domain e.g.: Active Directory, DHCP, SQL, Windows Operating Systems, Outlook, Server Operating Systems, etc.

Required minimum education and training

  • Grade 12
  • CompTIA A+ and CompTIA N+ Certifications
  • Microsoft Windows Server Administrator

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities

1) The successful incumbent must have experience in the below:

  • Configuration of network hardware such as servers, routers, and switches
  • Upgrading, repair and maintain computer networks
  • Assist network architects with the design of the network models whenever needed
  • Troubleshoot various network issues
  • Deploy and update company-wide software
  • Manage servers and operating systems
  • Implement security measures
  • Manage physical and cloud network storage
  • Install and test new software and provide end-user training
  • Setup, configuration, and administration of Windows Server
  • Experience in supporting laboratory systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Suites
  • Experience with backup software
  • Ability to configure and maintain printers, local and network
  • Experience with label printers preferred
  • Keep a log of all technical faults

2) Standby work, working overtime, and over weekends will be required
3) Valid Driver’s License - local travel will be required
4) Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
5) Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and work as part of a diverse/multidisciplinary team

Required minimum work experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in an IT environment and 2 years in a laboratory environment
