SUMMARY:

Our client in Johannesburg has an exciting opportunity for a Supply Advisor: Mining Commodities. Responsible for supporting the development of Global and Strategic Category Management work, including data analytics and enabling appropriate relationships with stakeholders and the relevant category suppliers. Supporting the management of Category specific total cost of ownership benefits to ensure continuity of supply risks are minimized and business requirements are satisfied.

Education and Minimum Requirements

          Essential

An undergraduate qualification – Bachelor degree/Diploma or equivalent.

          Advantageous

A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.

 Competencies

  • Experience in Managing Explosives Category (Advantageous)
  • Deep understanding of category management methodologies and practices preferably in a multi-national.
  • Solid experience in managing the end-to-end source to contract process.
  • Knowledge and understanding of what the Mining Commodities value levers are.
  • Prior experience of Mining would be an added advantage.
  • Prior experience with Goods and Service contracts would be an added advantage.
  • Capability in spend analytics and facts and data-based decision making.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement, strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Proven track record of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) having managed strategic supplier relationships, performance measurements.
  • Negotiation: application of a wide range of negotiation tools, frameworks and processes, through study, practice and experience. Developed awareness of his or her own negotiation strengths. Strong skills in negotiation process design and has developed the discretion as to when to use which tools and processes and can execute the selected tools with skill.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication: ability to plan and implement a stakeholder engagement and communications plan for complex and/or large projects.
  • Contract management: applies leading edge thinking and deep supply market knowledge to the development of contracts for critical goods and services.
  • Commercial and Analytical skills: demonstrates and ability to conduct data analysis (i.e. financial, pricing, market) and interpret the results of data analysis for the purposes of strategy/ plan formulation, supplier negotiations and the development of business cases. Applying rigorous commercial and business thinking to decision making in order to generate value.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiates and implements new, as well as review and renegotiates existing Mining Commodities contracts.
  • Negotiate and implement Contract Price Adjustments in line with Governance requirements.
  • Supports the development of a fact-based strategy and plan for category/s and associated sub-categories.
  • In line with category plans, engages with internal stakeholders and supply market experts and data sources to generate ideas and opportunities.
  • Manages and leads data collection, in depth analysis, market engagement and sourcing, tendering and negotiation activity relating to high value initiatives where required.
  • Ensures personal compliance to the procurement policy and strategic sourcing methodology
  • Effective stakeholder engagement, strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Supports the RFP and tendering process from definition to closeout
  • Effective development and finalization of contracts with stakeholders.
  • Ensures RFP and contracts are channeled for approval via the approved systems, tracks and monitors the progress of RFP’s, contract/s finalization and contract/s sign off.
  • Ensures contracts and sourcing events are captured via SAP Ariba.
  • Collates all value delivery benefits, analyses the data and captures within the relevant system.
  • Ensures Inclusive Procurement is executed as per contractual obligations, facilitates and tracks Inclusive procurement progress
