JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main purpose of the job:

  • To support the implementation of the CATALYST study through management of day-to-day activities at the site level and to assist with clinical assessments, collection of specimens, and care according to protocols when required

Location:

  • 1 x Johannesburg - Gauteng

Key performance areas:

  • Work closely with clinic staff and study management team to implement, monitor, and evaluate study processes
  • Ensure the clinic is well equipped with necessary study-related resources
  • Work with the pharmacy and study management team to ensure the availability, accessibility, and proper storage of study products, other medication, and commodities
  • Support peer educators in the recruitment of study participants in accordance with the study protocol
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot operational activities
  • Liaise with the CATALYST study management team, serving as the first point of contact at the site
  • Collect & analyze site progress/implementation data and submit appropriate reports to the management team
  • Provide regular study performance updates to staff – DOH and CATALYST study management team
  • Integrate feedback into the project implementation plan and subsequent progress reports
  • Identify and escalate sites issues to the study management team as needed
  • Contribute to the development of study-wide communications resources
  • Ensure all key personnel are trained and maintain documentation on the same for audit purposes
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback, and support to staff
  • Participate in ongoing mentorship programs initiated by other WRHI
  • Oversee the implementation of CATALYST-specific QI activities
  • Work with the study management team to periodically assess the quality of services officered through the study
  • Develop work plans with clear timelines for addressing the identified needs and priorities
  • Where necessary, assist with drawing of blood from participants and manage the sample/specimen collection and transport to the laboratory
  • Provide appropriate health education and counseling on HIV and PrEP choice where necessary
  • Refer participants to alternative care if needed

Required minimum education and training:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in General Nursing with dispensing license and NIMART trained

Required minimum work experience:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in a public health research environment
  • Experience in project management
  • Proficiency in MS office

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

  • Able to work independently in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively in large, complex, multi-departmental, cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail
  • Good communication and administration skills
  • Certification in Good Clinical Practice
