PURPOSE OF POSITION:
|
To control, obtain, maintain and ensure that the items taken in by receiving are correctly stored to ensure proper protection of the items and the correct stock rotation when issuing to the packing and mixing lines. The storeman is responsible for issuing according to the daily workshop plans and purchasing of parts and stock for the workshop and all the other Depots.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Ensuring that all stocks are kept at the required levels
- Ensuring that all items are procured in a timeous manner
- Daily Stores Inspection.
- Daily bulk stock count
- Daily issue and receipts counting
- Storage of all incoming stock and returns
- Storing and protection of stock until required.
- Issuing of bulk stock to staging against a predefined stock rotation policy (eg FIFO).
- Daily Housekeeping.
- Purchasing parts and stock to ensure product flow for workshop and all other Depots
- To unlock / lock up the workshop stores as required.
RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO KEY PERFORMANCE AREA
To execute the receiving and dispatching of stock to and from regions / technicians / Depots / client sites and across the borders Depots
Purchasing and planning material requirements to ensure product flow to workshop floor and procurement of items to support workshop activities and all Depots
Understanding and communicating requirements to suppliers and management.
Serving as the primary contact with suppliers and addressing quality concerns with suppliers and Workshop Management.
Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
Driving cost savings and achieving departmental goals. Driving cost savings and achieving departmental goals.
Working with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
Raise delivery notes against the relevant accounts
Return stock to suppliers for repairs
Ensure all stock has serial numbers
Prepare stock requirements timeously.
Prepare parcels correctly and in time for collection by courier company.
Maintain effective stock control at all times
Complete records of stock received from suppliers and forward to Workshop Manager.
Introduce all stock procured into the Company’s stock taking system.
Ordering of new stock to ensure an ample supply of stock
Notify Management regarding low and surplus of stock.
Complete reports relating to stock taking (Damaged Goods, etc)
Draw required stock and keep Bin Cards correctly updated.
Responsible for the entire procurement function;
This includes; Oils; Parts; Stores; and Other fast moving consumables
Sourcing parts
Researches and evaluates vendor quotes to qualify commodity suppliers
Executes requisitions of goods and services from suppliers
Monitors and reports purchase order status
Prepares reports on a routine and ad-hoc basis to provide information regarding purchase order activities,
Maintains appropriate documentation for audit purposes
Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management.
It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high work loads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management.
Responsible for the 6 monthly stocktake.
Ensuring the safety and security of the stock. This takes the form of ensuring that there are adequate security systems in place and enforcing Health and Safety rules. This also includes keeping the store clean and tidy
Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
Support the purchasing function and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Successful completion Grade 12
- Valid drivers’ License (advantageous)
- Principles of Computer Literacy
- Two years working in a warehouse environment
- Be methodical and ensure operating procedures for the stores are enforced on all levels
- Well organized and focused on service delivery
- Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
