Key Performance Areas (KPA’s)
1. Carry out policies passed down from the level above
- Adhere to superiors’ requests
- Implement and maintain workflow principles according to layouts and tandem cutting principles.
2. Plan short-range action steps to carry out goals set by the level above
- Oversee subordinate duties (Internal Logistics, Framing, Mechanism Assembly, Upholstery, and Wrapping)
- Organizing B.O.M requirements (components and raw materials for the days’ work)
- Reporting damages/flaws
3. Organizing the workgroup
- Manage Headcount
- Manage overtime
- Daily manning shuffles to accommodate absenteeism
- Meet with subordinates and outline jobs and responsibilities for the day
4. Assign jobs to subordinates
- Monitor subordinate’s performance thru appraisals (Criteria =output, process, manning, and housekeeping).
- Manage subordinates to ensure correct job sequencing, line set up according to job requirements, and line balancing
5. Direct tasks, jobs, and projects
- Attend daily production meeting
- Report issues in your department to your superior
- Correct job cards being followed
- Fast track shortages.
- Control raw material against the Bill of Materials (B.O.M) in all departments
- Ensure stock takes are conducted according to guidelines
- Continuous improvement
- House-Keeping
6. Train subordinates
- Ensuring subordinates are using the correct and most efficient techniques
- Monitoring the subordinate’s techniques and procedures they are utilizing, ensuring efficiency and time-saving techniques are being utilized
- Any employees/subordinates not following the correct techniques/procedures must be given or sent for further training
7. Enforce rules ?? Policies and Procedures
- Disciplinary action must be taken in accordance with the disciplinary code
- Control Late coming and timekeeping
- Correct culture and ethos of Calgan being adhered to
- Health and safety codes being followed/fire drills
- Reporting problems or deviations immediately
8. Lead and motivate subordinates
- Work closely with subordinates and set an example for them to follow
- Motivate subordinates to better their outputs
- Maintain discipline and respect
9. Develop group cohesiveness
- Ensure subordinates are familiar with one another, in order to create a good work culture within the group dynamic
- Dealing with the personal issues of the subordinates and alleviating conflict as much as possible
10. Solve routine daily problems
- Identify daily issues and propose solutions
- Delegate responsibility to meeting daily requirements
- Ensure sustainability of the solutions to the problems
- Report major issues to superiors
11. Control and evaluate the performance of subordinates and the department
- Monitoring subordinate’s effectiveness
- Keep track of performance and manage deadlines
- Identifying the subordinates who produce more and or better-quality products
- Monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of your subordinates and department
12. Conduct performance appraisals
- Monitor subordinate effectiveness and give feedback (positive or negative)
