Store Manager

POSITION INFO:

Our client, a successful national retail chain based in Cape Town is looking for a Branch / Store Manager to join their team in the Southern Suburbs (Plumstead). The object of this role will be to ensure that control procedures and paper work are adhered to and are up to date.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stock Management

• Follows through on procedures to control and manage stock
• Ensures that Price Changes are carried out effectively and efficiently
• Monitors best/worst sellers i.e. the use of the Top seller''s reports by category
• IBT controls followed through
• Communicates any relevant stock issues to the Merchandise department
• Ensures negative stock is at the required level
• Follows through on Purchase order procedures

Sales Generation

• Monitors daily/ monthly targets.
• Tracks and evaluates departmental performances.
• Tracks staff on Turnover generation
• Develops and implements in-store promotions.
• Trades as a merchant within the store
• Develops outside business.
• Ensures that there is an effective quote system in store and that all quotes are approved and followed up by the Customer Care Manager.

Staff Management

• Recruits and inducts staff according to Company procedures.
• Conducts in-store training sessions.
• Coaches and develops staff with a view to providing succession.
• Adheres to disciplinary and grievance procedures..
• Implements performance management effectively.
• Completes personnel documentation accurately and timeously.

Merchandising and Housekeeping

• Creates and maintains merchandising principles.
• Implements seasonal changes creatively and timeously.
• Ensures more than acceptable housekeeping standards inside and outside the store
• Ensures that oddments and soiled merchandise are cleared from the store on a regular basis.
• Back-up areas must be maintained to an acceptable level of tidiness and cleanliness.

Customer Care

• Trains and re-enforces Customer Service principles
• Timeous handling of customer requests

Administration

• Uses all Audit Trails correctly and follows up on inaccuracies / problem areas.
• Ensures correct receiving and cash management\banking procedures are in place.
• Exception reports are printed and accounted for in the day bag
• Monthly reports sent through timeously and accurately completed.
• Daily counts are actioned and investigated

Protection of Company assets.

• Minimises external threats to customers, staff and Company assets.
• Prepares for and implements stocktakes effectively and timeously.
• Implements that daily unit counts in high-risk areas conducted.
• Monitors damaged stock in the event of misuse
• Ensure that weekly alarm tests and panic button tests are carried out as per procedure.
• Ensure that your store adheres to the requirements as laid out in the OHASA Act.

Follow through on Company Policy and procedures

• Implement and ensure follow through of ALL Company Policies and Procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous retail experience in a managerial position and with similar duties.
• Customer service-oriented with in-depth knowledge of basic business management processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Operate accurately and efficiently.
• A strong attendance, reliability and punctuality record.
• Be computer literate with regards to emails and basic Excel. Previous IQ Retail experience would be advantageous.
• Be able to work as part of a team.

SALARY:

R20 000 (negotiable depending on experience)
