SUMMARY:
General Manager - Food Wholesale

POSITION INFO:

Duties –

Store Performance and measurement -

Top line budgets, Gross Profits, Agreed incomes, expenses, Profit lines, GP’s, Credit vs Cash, shrinkage, budgets, stock holdings

Stock Management and Buying controls

Ensure full range of consumer products – Retail and Wholesale, ensure proper merchandise stock lines at all times, ensure proper stock product cycle sheets, maintain suppliers and stocks, stock purchases, ensure promotions correctly merchandised, ensure Health and safety and hygiene, performance review meetings, negotiations, Purchase buying ratios, sign off purchases, GRV’s, Pricing, Supplier contributions, shorts and returns and damages, weekly reports to Head Office

Systems and procedures

Compliance, monitor sales, daily sales reports, discount reports, check daily transactions, daily refunds, end of day reports

Stock takes

Perform stock take preparations, ensure stock takes are done in accordance, Budgeted costs, perform stock take accuracy, scrutinize variance reports

Marketing -

Build supplier relationships, Dealings, identify promotional lines, Grow market share, visiting Top Customers, Bulk dealings, Marketing trends, direct marketing, promote aggressively, promote stokvels

Arranging supplier activities and demo’s

Loss Control –

Ensure losses are under control, manage shrinkage, ensure checks are recorded, identify variances, Taking actions, ensure temperature checks, spot checks, Security checks, opening and closing security procedures

Safekeeping of documentation

Customer service –

Attend to customer queries, spend time on sales floor and front line, Customer service, stock availability, ongoing service training

Health and safety –

Ensure all adherences, ensure cleanliness, maintain licenses, weekly inspections, Pest Control

People management

Ensure staff understand expectations are to be met, lead by example, motivate staff, Time management, comply with basic conditions of Employment act, handling dismissals, manage grievances promptly, monthly reviews, train staff, measure productivity

Finance administration

Ensure all cash safety procedures, cash collections, drop off’s, cash flow management, payment of expenses and stock, sign off cash up report, ensure cash deposits balance, sundry orders, rebates, making payments, weekly age analysis monitoring
