Job purpose description*

The main purpose of the role is the daily monitoring, tracking, capturing and verification of all equity, bond, warrant and money market Income Collection, Proxy Voting and Corporate Action event announced in the South African market.
Additional ad hoc functions include loading foreign corporate events onto Hiport and the purchasing and selling of securities when required.

Action and control all tasks relating to Event Notifications

Outputs and measures*

• Scour through all market notification sources (SENS, CSD communication, daily business day) throughout the day for upcoming corporate events.
• Responsible for the verification of corporate action event information received from Strate versus the SENS announcement. Interpret the company announcement and determine how the event should be communicated in the market by Strate.
• Prepare a notification pack per event which covers the checklist, information sources, event summary sheet etc.
• Ensure event notifications are generated for every event authorised on BaNCS.  
• Ensure all information pre populated onto the event is accurate before submitting for authorisation.
• Communicate all incomplete or inaccurate information received from Strate in writing via e-mail.
• Prepare a daily notifications tracking sheet to substantiate for all events communicated by issuers versus information populated on BaNCS.
• Trace all circulars and extract key information and enrich the corporate event information.
• Go through all information sources for Proxy Voting events and manually load onto BaNCS. Check company websites for meeting agendas and proxy forms and compare information received from Strate.
• Prepare an event file for all proxy voting events and hand over to the Manager for allocation.
• Update the corporate event and proxy diary for all events authorised.
• Monitor and ensure all events scheduled for Trustee Services in loaded onto HiPort. For events not loaded it needs to be loaded manually.
• Follow-up with Transfer Secretaries and Companies on all events where full details are not yet available.
• Deal with all current corporate action queries (where applicable) in a quick and efficient manner
• Compile the CA Analysis on a weekly basis.
• Escalate any recon issues to management that cannot be responded to within 24 hours
• Load money market and bonds events when applicable.
• Verify all bond events are auto created against the JSE data and update information within 12 - 24 hours.
• Check and authorise corporate action events in cases where it was captured by an alternate Specialist.
• Updating Control First on a daily basis to sign off events announced versus event captured on BaNCS. 
• Ensure all events communicated in the market is dispatched to clients within 12 - 24 hours.

Purchasing and Selling of Securities

Outputs and measures *

• The Specialist must place buy or sell orders with SBG Securities upon receipt of an instruction authorised by the manager.
• The order must be communicated to SBG Securities via e-mail
• Upon receipt of the brokers note, the Specialist must pass it over the Event Processing. The Specialist must prepare trade instructions and pass onto Equity Settlements in order for the trades to be matched and committed by T+1.
• The Specialist to update the spreadsheet to annotate the details of the securities that was bought or sold along with all key information, inclusive of settlement amount.
• The Specialist to balance the SEQ544080 cash account on a weekly basis by ensuring the account is kept to NIL post all sales and purchase orders.
• The Specialist to engage with SBG Securities (Trader) in cases where clarity is required or where brokers notes are not accurate.

Other

• Perform the Call Centre function once or twice a month.
• Perform any ad hoc function delegated by management
