Solid Edge Design Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client, a highly reputable machine-building company based in the Western Cape, is seeking a skilled Solid Edge Design Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The company specializes in supplying custom machinery to manufacturers, including wineries, and prides itself on innovative design and quality engineering.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical systems using Solid Edge (or SolidWorks) CAD software.

• Oversee mechanical fabrication and assembly processes, including CNC machining and welding.

• Collaborate with electrical assemblers and engineers to deliver complete machine solutions.

• Manage and update company management systems and procurement systems (training provided).

• Provide HR and administrative support as needed within the engineering office.

• Independently handle design projects, liaising directly with clients and internal teams.

• Present company portfolios to clients, assisting the sales team where required.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering design, fabrication, and assembly; candidates with 2+ years’ experience may be considered if fully competent and able to work independently.

• Proficient in Solid Edge; knowledge of SolidWorks is an alternative.

• Experience in mechanical fabrication, assembly, CNC machining, and welding.

• Experience in an independent design office environment.

• Strong CAD skills and ability to produce high-quality technical drawings.

• European passport is advantageous.

• Sales experience is a plus, as the role involves client interactions.
