SUMMARY:
An established and fast-growing renewable energy company is looking for an experienced Head of Monitoring & Maintenance to lead its Operations & Maintenance (O&M) division. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a technically strong professional with extensive experience in commercial solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and maintenance operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a portfolio of commercial and industrial renewable energy systems while driving operational excellence, client satisfaction, and business growth.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Monitoring & Maintenance division.
- Oversee the daily remote monitoring of commercial solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid energy systems.
- Identify system faults, communication failures, and performance issues, ensuring prompt diagnosis and resolution.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules, inspections, cleaning programmes, and emergency call-outs.
- Coordinate field technicians, subcontractors, spare parts, equipment, and site access.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, fault logs, and system performance reports.
- Ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) response times and maintenance schedules are consistently achieved.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and technical support.
- Analyse system performance data and recommend improvements to maximise system efficiency and energy production.
- Manage departmental budgets, operational costs, profitability, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with electrical regulations, health and safety requirements, and company quality standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in commercial or utility-scale solar PV operations and maintenance.
- Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), inverters, monitoring platforms, and electrical infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience leading technicians, maintenance teams, or field-service operations.
- Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with clients.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing operational budgets, service delivery, SLAs, and departmental performance.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
